Dr. Sacco’s research interests are in stroke epidemiology, treatment, diagnosis, prevention and genetics. He has been actively involved in the leadership of several multicenter randomized phase 3 clinical trials including WARSS, GAIN, and ProFESS. For the past 20 years, he has been the PI of the Northern Manhattan Study, an NIH-funded community-based, epidemiologic study designed to determine stroke incidence, risk factors, and prognosis in an elderly, multi-ethnic, urban population living in northern Manhattan in New York City.
