Dr. Lipton is the Lowe Professor and Vice Chair of Neurology and Professor of Epidemiology, and Population Health at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He also directs the Montefiore Headache Center. After medical school at the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine, he completed a residency in neurology and a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology, both at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed a second fellowship in neuro-epidemiology at the Sergievsky Center and the School of Public Health of Columbia University.
Dr. Lipton’s research has focused on longitudinal epidemiologic studies and clinical trials in neurologic disease, particular in the areas of headache medicine as well as cognitive aging and dementia. Since 1993, he has directed the Einstein Aging Study, an NIA funded program project grant. He has published over 500 articles in peer reviewed journals, over 300 reviews and book chapters as well as 8 books. A member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Neurology and the American Neurological Association, Dr. Lipton is Past President of the American Headache Society and on the editorial boards of several journals including Neurology.
