Laurie Gutmann

Dr. Gutmann will be involved in the NEXT site management/ intervention group and with education along with Dr. Shefner. She received a BA from Oberlin College, her MD from West Virginia University School of Medicine, and did her Neurology Residency and Neuromuscular/EMG Fellowship at University of Virginia. She has been a faculty member of the West Virginia University School of Medicine for the past 19 years and is currently Professor of Neurology and Exercise Physiology. She has board certification in neurology, clinical neurophysiology, vascular neurology, and neuromuscular medicine. Dr. Gutmann has had long-standing clinical trials experience beginning at WVU and this was enhanced by her four years experience in the extramural clinical trials program at NINDS/NIH. She served there as program officer for several U01 trials, consultant for Corriell Repository, and was actively involved in the Office of Clinical Research activities. She is currently Medical Director of the WVU Stroke Center, clinical neurophysiology fellowship director, and co-director of the MDA clinic. She serves as a director for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
