Dr. Glauser is Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology at University of Cincinnati, and is Director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and the Associate Director of Clinical, Translational, Outcomes and Health Services Research at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He completed his pediatric residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, fellowship in child neurology at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and a NINDS research fellowship in pediatric neurology and a fellowship in epilepsy and electroencephalography at St. Louis Children’s Hospital of Washington University School of Medicine. He has been as Cincinnati Children’s since 1992, and has been site PI for over 30 industry-sponsored clinical trials as well as disease and pharmacogenetic studies in children with epilepsy. He conceived and led the development and successful completion of the Childhood Absence Epilepsy: Rx, Pk-PD-Pharmacogenetics (NS 045911) trial, a 32-center 446-patient double-blind randomized trial compared ethosuximide, lamotrigine and valproic acid as initial therapy of absence seizures. He is a standing member and acting chair of NINDS’s NSDK clinical trials study section. He actively participated in the development of the NIH’s Common Data Elements for epilepsy and was the first investigator to implement these CDE’s into an ongoing trial (the Childhood Absence Epilepsy study). Dr. Glauser’s areas of interest are pediatric epilepsy, pharmacology, decision support, and clinical trial design and implementation.
