Shirley Gibbs

Ms. Gibbs will actively participate and coordinate existing and new NIH funded trials at the site to support the disease specific area. Her role will included implementing clinical research projects and other NeuroNEXT tasks.

Ms. Gibbs obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in area of Human Resource Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Ms. Gibbs joined the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1993 in the Division of Cardiology. She joined the Department of Neurology in 1999 and is currently the Program Manager for the Division of Neuro-oncology. She has helped the Division’s research program to grow into one of the best research program at the University.

Ms. Gibbs oversees the regulatory management for the Neuro-oncology Program. She is responsible for the regulatory submission of all protocols, amendments, SAEs, and annual reports to the central and local institutional review boards. Prepare submissions of regulatory documents for research regulatory and local bio-safety committees. She works closely with industry sponsors to develop trial budgets and invoicing. Ensuring all clinical trials are run in conformity with the protocol requirements of the sponsors and in compliance with rules and regulations of the FDA and IRB.
