Ms. Ecklund is Associate Director of the CTSDMC. She has a combined 24 years of experience in conducting clinical trials through the CTSDMC and in her previous role as Nurse Manager of the General Clinic Research Center (GCRC). She has been involved in various capacities in hundreds of clinical trials, ranging from small Phase 1 studies to multi-center Phase 3 studies. Ms. Ecklund has served as an IRB member for over 16 years and was appointed an IRB chair two years ago. She has extensive administrative experience with responsibilities including protocol implementation, protocol compliance, resource allocation, budgetary implications, and collaboration with many partners. Finally, Ms. Ecklund has a rich clinical background that includes experience in pediatrics and neurological disorders. Prior to her tenure at the GCRC, she was a staff nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Ms. Ecklund oversaw the admissions and protocol implementation for multiple pediatric and adult subjects to the GCRC including those with brain tumors, hemophilia, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, Huntington’s chorea, and cochlear implants.
Ms. Ecklund will be responsible for overseeing all day-to-day activities of the NeuroNEXT-DCC. She will functionally supervise all team leaders and will provide direct supervision to Ms. Costigan, Ms. Jasperson, Ms. Cozzie, Mr. Peters, Mr. Yankey and Dr. Gloer. She will also serve on the Executive Committee.
